THIELEN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY recognizes the need to move toward a more green way of living. We are taking important steps in that direction. Not only does going green save you money, but helps save the planet at the same time.
This year we enrolled in a program called ENERGY STAR Homes. ENERGY STAR homes are estimated to be 25% more efficient than homes built to Wisconsin's Uniform Dwelling Code. ENERGY STAR homes have outperformed similar sized homes by almost 10 percent in terms of actual space heating costs. This is due in part to the more stringent standards in force and the attention to construction details that go into every home.
As of 2007, any recyclable materials present on the job will be recycled. This includes: cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminum, copper, and in certain cases, building materials. On jobs that we general contract, all subcontractors will be required to recycle what they can. Recycling doesn’t take any more time to do, and it’s a benefit to us all.
We also participate in Adopt-A-Highway. We clean up the garbage alongside Highway 45, between Highway "20" and Highway "K", at least 3 times a year. Just another way we help out.
